Designed by Loïc Dubigeon, this scarf was first issued under the title Voyages Slaves (Slavic Journeys) in 1982, before being renamed Voyages en Russie (Journeys in Russia) in 1983 — a rare occurrence at Hermès. It was later reissued in 1993 and 1996.
The design features a series of Russian horse-drawn teams, illustrating the traditional means of transport of days gone by. The sleighs gliding over the snow convey all the nostalgia of the vast Slavic expanses, so dear to the collective imagination. Each vignette seems suspended in time, between winter silence, tradition and folk elegance. This scarf is now particularly sought after by collectors for the poetry it exudes and its unusual publishing history. It is one to collect alongside its twin, “Voyages Slaves”.
