“The story behind it: the protea, a strange and emblematic flower, has become a national symbol of South Africa. It flourishes in the fynbos, a coastal and mountain ecosystem of exceptional biodiversity. At the heart of this scarf, the flower is staged majestically, in a modern reinterpretation of a traditional, stylised design. It recalls the iconic ceramics of the Ardmore collective, behind this remarkable creation. Founded in 1985 by Fee Halsted in KwaZulu-Natal, the collective brings together Zulu, Zimbabwean and Sotho artists, with the mission of promoting creativity and preserving the artistic heritage of the region. This is their third scarf for the Maison Hermès, after The Savana Dance and La Marche du Zambèze.”
