At the very beginning of the 20th century, in Germany, after years of drawing bears for a zoo, Richard Streiff began making plush replicas for his aunt's toy factory. At the same time, across the Atlantic, during a hunt, President Theodore Roosevelt, nicknamed "Teddy" (a nickname he detested), refused to kill a black bear that the hunt organizers had tied to a tree. This anecdote became the subject of a cartoon in the famous Washington Post. Morris Michtom, a confectioner from Brooklyn, saw the cartoon in the newspaper and made a soft little bear, which he placed in his shop window with the sign "Teddy's Bear." The toys were an immediate success, and Michtom founded his company. The teddy bear became the most faithful companion of childhood, both guardian of sleep and confidant of small sorrows and great joys—"the confidant of hearts." This square allows amateurs and elegant women as well as arctophiles , that is to say collectors of teddy bears and what is related to them, to immerse themselves in the softness and warmth of the balls of fur of our childhood.
