Hermès Scarf 90 cm – Les Folies du Ciel – Loïc Dubigeon (1984)

VENDU

Created in 1984 by Loïc Dubigeon, "Les Folies du Ciel" (Sky Follies) celebrates the conquest of the air. The design illustrates the gentle madness of the first aeronauts, who risked their lives in incredible machines, but also that of the subscribers who financed these feats. While 21 November 1783 made history with the flight of the balloon designed by Étienne and Joseph de Montgolfier over Paris, not all the balloons depicted here enjoyed such glory. Some of these fantastic machines, shaped like fish or flying ships, remained projects or prototypes, whose traces are preserved today in historical archives (notably at the Musée de l'Armée at Les Invalides). On this luminous Sky Blue ground, the whole utopia of human flight finds expression. This piece is the first edition of 1984.

A word from Diane
I have a particular fondness for this scarf because it is a true page of history. It is playful, colourful and full of hope. This sky blue is the perfect shade for a healthy glow and goes wonderfully with denim or white. It is a design sought after by collectors for the precision of its illustrations, at once scientific and poetic. An invitation to travel, without leaving the ground...
